I don't know if I can conjure up the energy to write a blog post about my journey to play @exelotl's and @goodboyrik's #GoodboyGalaxy but I finally have all of the pieces.

I've been trying to get a good, handheld setup to play @exelotl@raru.re's #GoodboyGalaxy and so far the quest has played out like a puzzle out of a point-and-click adventure game: Part 1: Jordi needs GBA-capable hardware 1. I don't have a GBA. 2. But I have been carrying around this Nintendo DS in my inventory for a long time. 3. Talk With Helpful People (after a long, hilarious, sidequesty gag involving a lecture on the Seven Variations of Nintendo DS systems), I learn that the NDS actually can play GBA games. 4. Pick Up NDS Flash Card 5. The Flash Card can also run GBA games! 6. However, it turns out that GBA games being run from the NDS flash card actually have to go through an emulation mode. Weird! To use the NDS's actual GBA hardware, you have to go through the GBA slot on the opposite side of the handheld. 7. Go through more dialogue options to learn where to get a good GBA flash cart. 8. Pick Up GBA Flash Card 9. Success! GBA games are now available on my NDS with native hardware support! Part 2: The shoulder buttons 1. Years of wear and tear have degraded the NDS's shoulder buttons to become unresponsive (known problem). Goodboy Galaxy uses the shoulder buttons, so it won't be playable without them. 2. Open Nintendo DS 3. Use NDS Tools on Nintendo DS 4. Close Nintendo DS 5. The should buttons work! Briefly. We need a longer-lasting solution. 6. Open Nintendo DS 7. Use NDS Tools on Nintendo DS -- oh no! in my clumsiness is forever lost a tiny spring that got catapulted somewhere in my house, never to be found again. Also, the shoulder buttons are truly dead. 8. Turn On Internet 9. Use credit card with Ebay -- replacement shoulder buttons are on the way
