On last night’s #GoodGym mission we were invited to reflect on what #LiftTheCurfew meant to us and how did we feel about running at night? For me I feel like I have to be more aware of my surroundings, I don’t wear headphones after dark, I don’t get quite the same amount of headspace as I do in the daylight as I’m much more attentive to where am I and who is around me

“It shouldn’t be down to women to modify their behaviours to feel safe from violence. We should live in a world where violence against women and girls just doesn’t happen.”

“With fear of harassment and assault the biggest barrier to women running in the dark, the onus is on society to change.”

“GoodGym has put together a training guide on male allyship at https://www.goodgym.org/stories/women-night-safety to help improve women’s safety at night”

How men can be an ally

A gorgeous morning to take part in stage 179 of the Running out of time Climate Relay

It was good to be among other #GoodGym #runners and other #TheGreenRunners as well hearing why they were running and how they’d found out about the event.

The baton is beautiful. The experience was great. I’d thoroughly recommend people sign up to a stage as it gets closer to London and to its final stage running into Parliament Square on Thursday

Running Out of Time

Looking forward to representing both #GoodGym and #TheGreenRunners tomorrow at the #RunningOutOfTime relay as it arrives in #Brighton.

And as preparation I’ve renewed my #TheGreenRunners membership today and made my pledges.

“Having removed virtually all necessary physical activity from our lives, we are left in a position where we have to persuade our reluctant and calorie-hoarding hunter-gatherer brains to expend energy for no apparent reason. Perhaps finding ways to link exercise with a purpose can help improve people’s motivation to exercise and boost exercise-associated wellbeing”

‘It really changes your mindset’: the amazing power of running for a good cause

Trudging around the park can feel like a waste of time and energy. But what if the next time you laced up your shoes it was to put food on people’s tables or help preserve the environment?

The Guardian

Worked with ChatGPT to put together a customised 9-week #10K #running plan for the #BrightonMarathon 10K in early April.

I’m going to use my Tuesday #GoodGym session as one of my three runs a week. And add in a couple of #FIIT yoga and bodyweight strength classes on non-running days.

Week 1 starts on Monday. With a rest day. Not a bad way to start 😆

I had help doing my #GoodGym TaskForce training session this evening

“According to the UN campaign "Safe Spaces Now," over 70% of women in the UK have experienced sexual harassment in public places. The UN has also found that 97% of women in the UK aged 18-24 have been sexually harassed in some way. In the US, a survey from RunGirl found that 9 out of 10 women have had unwanted comments while running, and a third have had someone follow them.”

Tonight was my first #GoodGym of the year. A short #run to the task at the Community Kitchen in #Brighton where we cleaned and tidied ready for more cooking classes to use the space
