Arj is a gig economy employee who hates his life and hates his jobs. He is currently a food delivery guy who is tipped poorly and gets bad ratings. Jeff, on the other hand, is a very wealthy venture capitalist who thinks nothing of having an ownership stake in restaurants so he can jump the line ahead of the gig workers who are waiting to get food for other people. Edward ChampionAziz Ansari's GOOD FORTUNE is a wretched, unfunny, and incredibly insulting movie to anyone who has ever been poor. It is superficial in its understanding of the gig economy and I was so livid that I wanted to scream. It is poorly directed, with high caliber actors reduced to stiff performances, I counted two moments when the actors looked in the camera. Aziz Ansari is a privileged asshole who is as much of an auteur as Uwe Boll. Fuck him and fuck this movie.
sgt1372As much as I like Keanu Reeves as an action hero (#Matrix & #JohnWick), I've never liked him in lighter fair.
He stars in #GoodFortune, which was a movie that I was definitely NOT interested in seeing at the theater but I took a look at it on an #AltStreaming channel & my decision to skip it at the theater was confirmed.
I could only watch 20 mins of it before reading the entire plot on #Wiki & skipping ahead to see how it ended.
I viewed it as a lesser grade version of #HeavenCanWait (1943 &/or 1978) & #ItsAWonderfulLife (1946).
I suggest you watch one of those instead, if you want to see movie about an angel saving souls which is what Good Fortune is supposedly about.

TarraccasGood Fortune is a fun movie that I encourage you to enjoy. It takes aim at the gig economy work experience, competing with robots, out-of-touch wealthy who literally look down on regular people, highlights unionization struggles and so much more that anyone who's held a real job can relate to. And the angel Gabriel (Keanu) clothing choice seems to be a nod to Columbo. Bonus!
