"What are you doing in Paris?"
"Starving."
"You unpatriotic devil. Why don't you starve in England?"
"I prefer French cooking."
A real treat for Goon Geeks... Ted Kendall on restoring the Goon Shows. Ted is one of those heroes who don't wear capes that you hear about. And neither does he tear tapes... except when appropriate, and then only with a razor.

A Scandal in Bohemia by The Jazz Butcher was released in 1984 on Glass Records
The Jazz Butcher was the alias of British singer/songwriter Pat Fish (20 December 1957 – 5 October 2021)...
...A Scandal in Bohemia was released in November 1984...The album shares its title with the first Sherlock Holmes short story, and features a memorable cover by comic artist Hunt Emerson. According to Fish, "We were young(ish) and cocky and I think it shows….Still, it was cheap and cheerful, and it helped us to meet an awful lot of people".The record ended up selling over 20,000 copies. - Wikipedia
Hunt Emerson, who drew the cover, bought me a pint of Guinness when I was still at school at a Goon Show Preservation Society meeting!

All we have to do is learn to play the bagpipes
That's impossible.
Why?
No-one has ever learned to play the bagpipes.
Baby #GoonShow: Down among the Z men (1952)
Only one playing fairly straight in the quite silly plot is baby Peter.
Peter Sellers was one of the finest actors there ever were. I had never realised as I don't enjoy the cringe comedy of Pink Panther or The Party. If only he had not been such a troubled person he would have left so many more classics to enjoy.
I am quite partial to the cherub faced Sellers of the 1950s and Goon period. Some nice person even put "Penny Point to Paradise" on the internet. Now I wish more than ever all Goon Shows had been televised. They were amazing.
