Beautiful shoumei cup this morning.
My first Sheng Pu'er, a Gushu made from the Da Ye Zhong cultivar, from 2025, so still very young for a Sheng, and coming from the Nannuo mountain in Menghai, Yunnan, China.
It's very airy and bright, but with a slight astringency that develops into a mineral quality over many brews, over the same course its grassiness gives way to a stone fruit-like sweetness.

Should probably have picked a tea I knew well to do an initial comparison, but it definitely feels like it's getting more out of the tea. Maybe it's just the better thermal properties at this stage? Looking forward to seeing how it develops as it gets properly seasoned! @tea #tea #GongFu
I've recently upgraded my tray for gongfu tea and it's made making gongfu tea more enjoyable without clustering everything together. Today having "Old Varietal (Lao Shu Dian Hong) Feng Qing Black Tea" from Yunnan sourcing. Really strong and has already lasted me 10+ infusions without changing color and only minor taste changes.
