2024 Christmas Tree cutting in #GoldenGateCanyonStatePark #Colorado was a success. The weather was incredibly warm (~50° in freedom units) and winds were very calm. This is not super common for December 7 at this altitude (8000').

Pictures of the tree in situ, in transit to the truck, and the first gift of Christmas- a flagging wrapped piece of gneiss collected at the base of the tree.

Panorama Point in #GoldenGateCanyonStatePark Elev = 9360 feet 2853 meters. Looking west across a valley to the eastern side of the Rockies. elevation of those are between 11 and 14,000 feet It was also almost 20 degrees F cooler than down in Denver.
We went out for a drive and this is not that far away. I enjoyed just standing around up there.
