Just been looking into my #streaming setup as of late, particularly the hardware I use. It appears the #goxlr, finally made accessible through a third-party tool, may need to be replaced at some point as the first-party devs who were working on it all got canned (again) in February, so when it dies, that's it, although that may not be for quite some time given its track record so far.
My #avermedia #captureCard works, for the moment, although there's always been a weird blurriness when capturing ps5 that I haven't found the cause for yet. #twitch #hardware

Even if I get my encoding working - plugins are more plentiful/easier to install on Windows & software for many streaming accessories don't have a #linux version. #GoXLR the #Rode #StreamerX & #Razor & #Elgato stuff all lack linux software. Suppose I could run OBS on the laptop booted into windows with HDMI capture of the linux desktop - but if I'm going to do that why not just use windows directly on the desktop? (2/2)

Is there anything I miss from #Windows or #MacOS using #Fedora as my main #PC for personal use? Yup! #iMessage iTunes/Apple Music library, drivers for #GoXLR top the list. Gaming's a mixed bag - I'm more a console #gaymer & many games work well w/ #Proton - integrated intel GPU is a bigger limit. Still, some games that could play on this hardware only work well in windows. A mix of consoles, #steamdeck (also runs #linux ) & a gaming desktop w/windows 11 & dedicated GPU keeps me entertained

#TIL there's an open source control utility for the #GoXLR that has all the original features, and some more, and it has an open API for remote control.

The API opens up some really cool possibilities, like a pretty deep Streamdeck integration where I could show which fader is controlling which channel (my GoXLR mini doesn't have screens for that) on the StreamDeck's keys, or I could reassign faders on the fly
