Is it entirely surprising to find that his conduct in office reveals a certain, shall we say, authoritarian streak?”"

Mark Carney might be used to being the smartest guy in the room. That’s no guarantee of success in politics

No other prime minister has shown quite the same taste for autocracy, with so little concern about how it could come back to haunt him

The Globe and Mail
@PapyrusBrigade I'd say #MarkCarney is centre right, but I rarely read the #GlobeAndMail (also centre right, in my opinion).

Andrew Coyne 🇺🇦🇮🇱🇬🇪🇲🇩 (@acoyne): "My latest, on the continuing fiasco at the CPP investment fund, which has now spent more than $50 billion over twenty years to lose about $100 billion relative to what it might have earned, for an equal amount of risk, if it had just bought the relevant indexes — or flung darts at the stock listings. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/article-cpp-investment-board-cppib-benchmarks/" | nitter

The bloated CPP Investment Board is trounced by its own benchmarks – again

For two decades, managers have tried – and failed – to beat the markets

I like reading the #GlobeAndMail with the app that mimics newsprint paper. Today (03-12-2026) on page A4 we have a detailed story on current weapons on the same page as an ad for a tour of past war sites. I’m not sure what this says about humans and their fascination with killing each other, but it doesn’t make me optimistic. Is it humans? Or #patriarchy (as I enter hashtag I noticed that #patriot shares the first 5 letters).
The #GlobeandMail has made a breakthrough discovery about the ontological status of #HoldenCaulfield. The photograph below is the illustration in its newsletter this morning for a piece entitled “The push into non-fiction ‘pocket paperbacks’.”

Looks like the #GlobeAndMail is embracing the use of #LLMs 😞

Time to cancel my subscription, I guess. #NoAI
