1/3 The Killer, also known as Le Tueur in French caused some cognitive disconnect. On the one hand, the authors name dropped Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton as celebrities, on the other, everybody was just using 90s mobile phones. Only after realizing, that the original French release was over 25 years ago, I realized that it was probably the later translation team, taking its contextual liberties. Once I had that out of the way, I loved it!
This was an intense ride. The art by Somnath Pal is mindblowing and relatable. The facial expressions of his characters are strong and intimate. His drawings really add a layer to the story telling, only possible in comics and their pace.
The story is also convincing and a true page turner. I feel spoiled that this is accessible so easily today. Gonna reread for sure!

The psychedelic cover art of Mothra drew me in and while story and characters are a bit thin (who cares, monsters! Right?), I am not disappointed on the art side of things.
I want more non manga style comics to have graphic lettering like this page.
