Ended Monday and welcomed Tuesday after a swim with Friends by Oregon, released on Vanguard in 1977.

Oregon open the door for a few friends to appear on the album – and in doing so, they also open themselves up as well – in a shifting set of tracks that sometimes features different groupings of the core musicians! The guests here are Bennie Wallace on tenor, Larry Karush on piano, and David Earl Johnson on congas and timbales – and the tracks move from longer to shorter, quintet to duo performances – all showing different aspects of the guitars of Ralph Towner, reeds of Paul McCandless, bass of Glen Moore, and sitar and percussion of Colin Walcott. Karush and Moore duet on piano on the beautiful "Love Over Time", Wallace and Walcott mix sitar and tenor on "First Thing In The Morning" - Dusty Groove

Friends by Oregon, released on Vanguard in 1977.

Oregon was an American jazz and world music group, formed in 1970 by Ralph Towner, Paul McCandless, Glen Moore, and Collin Walcott...

The group's first release Music of Another Present Era was issued on Vanguard in 1972[1] (the four also recorded for ECM, though the recording, 1973's Trios Solos, was billed as "Ralph Towner with Glen Moore"). With those initial recordings and the follow-ups Distant Hills (1973) and Winter Light (1974) (all on Vanguard), Oregon established itself as one of the leading improvisational groups of its day, blending Indian and Western classical music[3] with jazz, folk, space music[4] and avant-garde elements. The group released numerous albums on Vanguard throughout the 1970s.. - Wikipedia

Violin by Oregon (with Zbigniew Seifert) released in 1978 on Vanguard Records.

Violin Review by Ron Wynn

Fine late '70s material from the acoustic band Oregon. Despite the title, it's not violin-dominated material, but their standard blend of Asian, European, African, and American elements and influences.

Ended Thursday and welcomed Friday with In Concert a live album by the American jazz group Oregon released in 1975.

In a review for AllMusic, Ron Wynn awarded the album 4 stars, writing: "A textbook live recording by Oregon... It contains their usual classical, African, and jazz elements and shows that they're more aggressive and animated in performance than in the studio. The recording is excellent and fully displays the broad range of colors, rhythms, and textures that they present. The authors of The Penguin Guide to Jazz commented: "'Silence Of A Candle' is absolutely magisterial, and even more abstract pieces... underline that what Oregon was best at was real-time improvisation... Walcott's influence on the group is even more obvious in a concert setting. There is rarely a moment when he is not shaping or reshaping the music." - Wikipedia

Glen Moore and David Friesen - "In Concert" (1977) #NowPlaying #GlenMoore #DavidFriesen #solobass #vinyl #vinylrecords @vinylrecords

Very cool dual bass record on Vanguard, from a live concert in 1975. Moore is the bassist from the group Oregon. Friesen played with Jack DeJohnette, Joe Henderson and others. Couldn't find any YouTube or spotify links for this one.
