Long-term #ClimateChange and #paleoclimate: did #CO2 play an important role?

Climate change deniers like to throw around graphs that supposedly show CO2 and temperature are not correlated. But studies show that CO2 and temperature are correlated, and that times of low CO2 coincide with ice ages. See Royer et al. (2004)² and Foster et al. (2017)¹. #Glaciations and maximum latitudinal #ice extent occured when atmospheric CO2 was low.

Future climate forcing potentially without precedent in the last 420 million years - Nature Communications

Despite an increase in solar output, the Earth’s climate has apparently remained relatively stable over geological time. Here, the authors compile atmospheric CO2data for the past 420 million years and show that this climatic response is due to the long-term decline in this powerful greenhouse gas.
