This fire has been named the Substation Fire & is listed at 100 acres, per WildCAD. Note: The location has been updated on the Watch Duty map based off updated coordinates per WildCAD. An Air Attack is now also over the fire, via flight radar.
Information per Gilliam County Sheriff's on Facebook: Multiple fire resources are working to contain it on the north side of the interstate. We placed Arlington in a level 1 as a precaution.

Firefighters successfully held the Ferry Fire fire in its footprint and achieved 43% containment, despite continued high winds throughout the area yesterday.
With more accurate mapping being compiled by resources on the ground and from the air, the acreage is now at 10,359 acres.
217 firefighting personnel are being supported by the Central Oregon Type 3 Incident Management Team based out of the Sherman County Fairgrounds in Moro, Oregon.
Yesterday firefighters continued to strengthen and construct handline and dozerline as needed to contain the fires edge. Minimal Impact Suppression Tactics (MIST) are being used in areas along the John Day River Wild and Scenic Corridor to help in minimizing potential long term effects of fire suppression tactics. Resources who worked through Thursday night rested Friday and will be available to support this incident and/or other fire needs today.
Today the weather is predicted to be similar to previous days, with temperatures in the mid 70’s and westerly winds. Firefighting resources will continue mop-up efforts, line construction and strengthening containment lines. Air resources remain available as needed.

There have been some evacuation zone updates.
The fire has burn approximately 12,000 acres and is 46% contained. Crews were able to maintain the perimeter around the fire last night and made headway on containment.
Hotshots are working on the south end to stop progression, so you will see crews working in that area today.

The Sherman County Emergency Services has expanded the LEVEL 2 - BE SET - EVACUATION.
The expanded evacuation area now includes: Starvation Lane and Highway 206 on the north side, down to Higley Loop where it meets Fairview Road on the south side. And from John Day River on the east side, over to Fairview Road on the west side.
Power company crews are working in the area and have de-energized parts of the power grid to support public safety operations.
Residents should stay alert, follow all directions from emergency crews, and be prepared to evacuate if conditions change.
Have multiple ways to receive emergency alerts, such as cell phone notifications, local media, weather radios, and trusted online sources.

Last night at 8:30 PM, Frontier Regional 911 started receiving reports of a growing fire near Cottonwood State Park in Sherman and Gilliam Counties. The first call came in, followed by several more, including text-to-911 messages.
Dispatchers immediately relayed information to fire crews and coordinated a multi-agency response. Firefighters remain on scene and continue working to contain the fire.
At 11:40 AM today, Sherman County Emergency Services requested a Level 2 (Be Set) evacuation notice.
The alert covers:
-Areas south of Highway 206 and Monkland Lane
-Between John Day River and Fairview Road
-Areas north of where Higley Loop turns to Fairview Road

If you are experiencing an immediate life safety issue call 911.

Structures/Evacuations: The John Day River is not closed through the area, approximately River Mile 40 to 48. However, active water dipping by helicopters from the River will be taking place for several days. Boaters are asked to not stop or linger in the active fire zone and follow all direction from on-site Fire personnel.
