In the year 2024 I am a little disappointed we are not measuring EV charging in gigawatts. #BackToTheFuture #Gigawatts
#Taxpayers #LetTheSunshineIn : U.S. #DOE grant expected to fund majority of $2.2 billion complex for #Qcells (division of #SouthKorean #Hanwha Group) to build a solar plant in #Georgia.
President Joe #Biden’s #InflationReductionAct, gives tax credits on #AmericanMade solar gear, plus allows manufacturers to earn #incentives for every unit of #polysilicon they refine in every wafer, cell and module they make in #USA.
A US Dept of #Energy spokesman said “The domestic demand for #solar modules in 2026 is expected to be around 50 #gigawatts. We’re expecting to produce about 40 gigawatts in 2026, So that means 80% of the (#solarpower) modules that we deploy in the United States in 2026 is expected to be domestic.”
The recent massive #solarflare is arriving and is depositing 'hemispheric power' measured in hundreds of #gigawatts. Is this going to have any effect on sea surface temperatures? 🌞

#pakistan plans to boost #coal-fired #electricity production to 10 #gigawatts - more than a 4x increase from current levels - with domestic coal. Its #naturalgas imports are expensive and the country is running very low on forex reserves needed to purchase it.
The country currently has a power generation capacity of ~44 GW, and this move will essentially maximise the #carbon footprint of its #energy mix, provided they can find financing for the new coal plants.
Pakistan plans to quadruple its domestic coal-fired capacity to reduce power generation costs and will not build new gas-fired plants in the coming years, its energy minister told Reuters on Monday, as it seeks to ease a crippling foreign-exchange crisis.
