I had the great pleasure of hearing Sorley reading Hallaig, among other poems, in Edinburgh at the Queen's Hall in the 1990s. Shortly before McLean's own death.

He read it in #Ghaidhlig then English. I was struck by how resonant it was in a language I didn't understand – how the intonations reflected the landscape. the ocean, the rhythm and rock

I've started to learn #ScottishGaelic a few weeks ago and I'm hooked! It's really interesting language. I'm using #Duolingo in combination with Scottish Gaelic in Twelve Weeks textbook but I kinda wish there were any materials available in Czech. It's a bit difficult at times to grasp a third language through a second language and there are grammar-related things that are actually a lot more similar to Czech than English. But I'm determined to persevere. #ghaidhlig #scottishgaelicduolingo
