More local #consumers to sell to and lower wages, its a win-win for the #corporates. In #Australia, we typically had #GerryHarvey, #RealEstate moguls and #BigConstruction, #speculators and #universities pining for extreme numbers of people to be pumped in.
Whether by bombing their country (aka so-called #PushFactors) or #PullFactors like our "WorldClass" #coffeeshops and glass-and-steel living styles.

Instead many govt actively pursued #populationGrowth. In #Australia the conservative right party brought in a #BabyBonus *in this century* as well as increased immigration by insane levels, extra hundreds of thousands a year, simply to satisfy #contructionCartels, retailers like #GerryHarvey (very short term strategy given the effect on #CurrentAccount), suppress wages, and boost housePrices.
