4/ Alper Dinรงer then spoke about DuckDB and how it can specifically be used for managing the "Data Tsunami" we are now facing.

The sheer volume of data, for example in analysis of things like climate, necessitates new tools and techniques

Alper curates a list of DuckDB spatial resources:

7/ All the talks were interesting, but only one could take home the coveted SplashMaps best speaker prize.

The audience voted, and the winner was ...

Siobhan Ryan with her talk "Can AI find Aotearoa?"

Well done! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Thank you to all of our speakers. Please get in touch if you would like to volunteer to speak at a future Geomob

5/ Fourth speakers were Jonathan Gat and Tim Rains of USE-IT Maps, a long-running, volunteer initiative to create physical (paper) local maps for travelers.

6/ Our final #geomobLON speaker was Alex Wrottesley, taking us behind the scenes of the Geo 100 project, an effort to recognise 100 exceptional professionals, educators, innovators, and leaders who are shaping the future of theUK geospatial industry.

Alex shared how he was able to take the project from idea to reality so quickly and lessons learned.

2/ First speaker was Siobhan Ryan with a fantastic talk about testing AI services to see if they could find New Zealand ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ

She put the AIs to the test, with only partial success. A serious talk very amusingly delivered, all about the challenges of relying on AI for geospatial. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

3/ Next up we heard from Andy Coote about the need for the geospatial industry to better develop the "soft skills" like management and communication skills in young talent. Specifically he and others have now developed "The Geospatial Leadership Certificate" and online training course
