En La Guajira, especialmente en Fonseca, Barrancas y El Molino, los habitantes reportaron haber sentido el temblor, al igual que en el Cesar, incluyendo Valledupar. Usuarios en redes sociales describieron la experiencia como fuerte, mencionando que incluso sus camas y sillas se movieron. Los sismos superficiales, como este, tienden a sentirse con mayor intensidad aunque su magnitud no sea alta, debido a que la energía liberada llega a la superficie sin disiparse en profundidad. El epicentro del movimiento fue ubicado a las coordenadas 10.72° de latitud y -72.60° de longitud, y fue registrado por 44 estaciones sísmicas, con análisis manual que garantiza la revisión por especialistas. Este evento se suma a otros movimientos recientes en Colombia, recordando la importancia de estar atentos a las medidas de seguridad frente a sismos, especialmente en regiones cercanas a la frontera con Venezuela.

Usuarios en redes sociales reportaron haber sentido leves vibraciones en municipios cercanos, incluyendo áreas del Urabá antioqueño y otras regiones cercanas. El sismo de mayor magnitud del día se había presentado horas antes en la mañana en Chocó, con magnitud 5.6, y se sintió en varias ciudades del país, incluyendo Medellín, Bogotá y el Eje Cafetero. El SGC ha invitado a los ciudadanos a reportar cualquier percepción de movimientos sísmicos a través de la plataforma Sismo Sentido, para registrar la intensidad en diferentes zonas. Hasta el momento, no se han reportado emergencias relacionadas con estos movimientos telúricos.
