In an effort to throw caution (and perfection) to the wind, I whipped up a quick blog post (and blog section) about creating a tool for crawling #ESRI ArcGIS REST Servers and cataloging them using #OpenGeoMetadata's Aardvark format to ingest into a #GeoBlacklight instance.
Essentially the goal is to make public GIS data easy to find, filter and access
Sorry for going quiet. I got a full-time job doing some work with #GeoBlacklight and #InvenioRDM. Been working with #Python, which has been interesting.
Still working on a map for Alabama State Parks using #QGIS.
TIL you can add CSV's to QGIS and join them to an existing layer such as a Shapefile.
I'm not one to toot my own horn very much, but my https://github.com/lostmapper/gis-dockerized project has been really handy for testing out some tools I've been creating for importing #Shapefiles into #PostGIS and then publishing them as layers in #GeoServer.
I just spent a couple of months tending to a #GeoBlacklight instance.
Next I will be helping get some #Geospatial support into #InvenioRDM.
Anybody else working with these technologies?
I'd also like to do a video on #GeoBlacklight when I can find some time.
Current idea I'm toying around with working on: grab all the public ArcGIS REST services out there (yes, I know where to find this), recursively crawl each one and convert them to #OpenGeoMetadata Aardvark files to ingest into a #GeoBlacklight server (that I totally don't have the money to host myself right now) so they're easy to browse and search for by various attributes/spatial data.
Is anybody already doing this? Would this be useful?
I just added #Solr to my #GIS Dockerized project: https://github.com/lostmapper/gis-dockerized
It's configured to be used with #GeoBlacklight.
We'll see if I can't get GeoBlacklight running as a service as well...
I have a little pet project that helps me play around with different #GIS tools and web services within #Docker. I decided it was time to make it available on GitHub so others could make use of it, make suggestions, provide feedback, etc.
There's more I want to add (#MapStore, #Geoblacklight, #Solr) but perfect is the enemy of done, so I'm putting something out there sooner rather than later.

I've been away for a while. I decided to switch gears and work on music for a bit. If you're curious you can see those endeavors here: https://polymonic.com
I recently got a short-term #GIS job doing some work with #GeoBlacklight, #GeoServer and #QGIS. I'm thinking about creating some videos about setting them up.
I've also been working on a Docker Compose configuration to get #GeoServer, #PostGIS and #Solr working in harmony to be accessed by #GeoBlacklight.
