In the first days of September 1944 the inhabitants of #Jaslo hoped for a quick end of the war. On orders of the German occupiers - Otto #Oberhaus and Walter #Gentz - they were displaced, the city plundered and completely destroyed. 1020 wagons of looted property were transported to Western Germany. After the war #Gentz avoided any responsibility for the extermination of Poles and Jews, returned to to his hometown #Dusseldorf to work as a lawyer and public official.
