There is at least one out #NonBinary player at this #WWC2023 (for #Canada). They're white (or white-passing at least?) and there hasn't been similar speculation that I have heard. Because #racism and because #GenderExpectations.

Hearing commentators say that a couple of #Zambia players weren't eligible for the #WWC2023 due to failing "gender eligibility" criteria.

Are we at all surprised that this bullshit applies to a squad of primarily (or all) black women? Appalling #racism and #GenderExpectations from a major sporting body, yet again.

If somebody says to me "Man up", they're basically saying the way I'm acting doesn't conform with the recognised normal behaviour for a man.

As a #HighlySensitivePerson #HSP I often don't conform with expectations as a man.

I also feel hurt by the term #ManUp, and believe many men don't naturally conform, but are molded by society to do so, such that they don't feel out of place.

This is particularly the case for teenagers and also gangs.

'And yet, 60 years after I Hate to Cook was published, statistics show that adult women in domestic arrangements with men still do the bulk of the grocery shopping and cooking. And so the jokes endure. As long as somebody has to cook dinner, we will need them.' https://www.eater.com/23572705/the-i-hate-to-cook-book-peg-bracken #foodhistory #GenderExpectations #cookery #humour
