The #RSF, after taking over #AlJazirah in December, are now in control of #Sennar state. #BlueNile state is isolated and #Gedaref is close at hand. These new frontlines reach the Ethiopian border.

#Ethiopia, like #Egypt, is wary of accepting Sudanese refugees, at all, or in larger numbers.

Burhan (#SAF) launches offensive to retake #AlJazirah (#Sudan)

The region had been conquered by the #RSF last December, after which they momentarily reached Sennar city and launched raids to the east in #Gedaref state. Sudan's agricultural and economic heartland has been an uneasy prey to digest however. While #WhiteNile and #Sennar states were poorly defended and should have been easy targets, Hemedti's forces were grounded by widespread looting first, and SAF airstrikes second.

Babanusa falls

After 4 days of fighting, most of the city of Babanusa (West #Kordofan) is in the hands of the #RSF.

This new victory increases the momentum for the RSF, which consolidated their control over #Darfur in November, took control of #AlJazirah in December, and make steady progress in and around #Khartum.

There have been incursions in #Gedaref (East) and concerns for archaeological sites in #Merowe, 350 km north of the capital.
