"Creative and meaningful individual achievement in a difficult and complex society which has oriented itself away from the acceptance of those who are different is not easy, but the only other alternative is personal oblivion." 🇬🇧 Two #Tumblr pieces I recently wrote on #LiesOfP's #queer subtext:

1. On Carlo being Romeo's "best friend" (and male "best friends" of gay men often being their lovers in the #VictorianEra)
2. What Carlo being Rosaura’s friend REALLY means + some predictions about the #LiesOfPSequel

2. Was es eigentlich bedeutet, dass Carlo Rosauras Freund ist + ein paar Prognosen zum Lies of P-Sequel

Ideas on Paper

Reading about how, in the 19th century/Victorian era, the male lover of a gay man was often said to be a "dear friend" or "like a brother" to him to cover up the nature of their...

« sometime in the cold early spring of 1916, Sargent had encountered a young bellman in an elevator there. According to his Boston architect friend Thomas Fox, he’d noticed that “the operator, a young colored man, was possessed of a physique which he conceived would be of artistic value.” Such a body made him eligible to model for naked classical gods. »

They might have been upholders of a patriarchal colonial system & we don’t have clear cut evidence they were gay, but their story should be told & plaques placed at the hospital site.

Jay reviews "Heart of Stone" by Ellie Thomas:

"Christian and Sam are an interesting couple, first met in The Monk’s Lair. The period details are well researched.... the eventual gripping solution to the mystery of local robberies is worth the effort of reading on. 4 stars."
