In difficult times, it is often good to do something for the soul. I have renewed my mini #mossGarden. Please don't collect #moss in the wild + don't tear off any large pieces. These were growing in my car parking space. You find moss even on concrete. Collected in respect, they teach me a lot about #ecosystem #diversity and human hubris ( #ecosystems are more complex than we think). Why do sugar maple #trees get covered in moss while nearby older red oaks don't so much? Maybe the answer is in #GatheringMoss by #RobinWallKimmerer. I'll have to read again.

@bsmall2 I may be duplicating posts but the book about moss is so wonderful I will take that risk. #BraidingSweetgrass is a great book but my favorite by #RobingWallKimmerer is #GatheringMoss partly because it speaks about #OldGrowth and old stable ecosystems in general. Currently trying to save 3,500 acres of #OldGrowth in the #UpperCheatRiver project that has lots of moss but not a lot of sweetgrass :)
