Australia is being fleeced by the gas industry. We export huge amounts of gas, yet households and businesses are still copping high energy prices and constant pressure from the cost-of-living crisis. It’s hard to see how a system like this is working for ordinary people when the profits are flowing out and the pain stays here.

I’ve been thinking. Maybe, we’ve all got it wrong and #AlboPM is not colluding with the #GasIndustry at all and there are good reasons why he is not slapping a substantial #GasExpotTax on those bloddy #Grifters and their #Shareholders. But we just don’t know about it. Sure it would help if #AlboPM manned up and explain himself without using dumb soundbites and quips that, translated, mean we’re all dimwits and wouldn’t understand even if he told us. Hell, it would be good enough if he told his cabinet the ‘good reasons’ not to so that his cabinet could tell us the things #AlboPM can’t … for some reason…

But no… of course not… he is such a #Secretive little gnome.
Anyway, read the article and feel better by knowing you’re nor the only one who thinks #AlboPM ‘s got it massively wrong. Sad sack that he is.

Excellent. Watched the whole thing & he nailed it. His last point, that politicians should NOT take jobs in the industries they regulate, who could disagree with that? Also loved Richard Dennis’ killer line that gas companies pay more in PR than they do in PRRT (the gas windfall profits tax). All that wining & dining & political donations don’t come cheap either… they’re playing us for mugs.

Now for some good news.

Copper smelting is an expensive business due to its energy input requirements (not helped by the #GasIndustry #ExportRort and the inflated price of domestic gas supplies — such as they are. But that’s another story). This story showcases #Australian #Research (grossely underfunded !) and a new #Copper production process.

“A modular approach. In February, Banksia Minerals, which is commercialising the technology, was awarded $5 million in federal government funding through the Australian Renewable Energy Agency to develop the technology into a pilot plant expected in 2028. Banksia Minerals managing director Leigh Staines said, if successful, people could see multiple plants across the region.”
