Does anyone else find yellow courgettes [zucchini] to be just as valuable as ornamental plants as they are vegetables? Especially the spherical ones. They just look pretty. Pop them in a flowerbed as an annual along with nasturtiums, don't confine them to the veg patch.

Well, except for the small packet of snakeshead fritillaries that I intend to guerilla plant along a local footpath. Don't worry, they are a UK native.

Now I'm going to have a bottle of cider, some good quality stuff too so no chugging it. Note for Americans, this means hard cider and not apple juice.

I'm gonna say something controversial as a #gardener. I can't stand #Daffodil Jetfire or Tete-a-Tete. Get a new thing, garden centres and bulb merchants. I love spring dafs, but get something other than those two please. They are so damn basic.

Score another one for my late grandfather's #Gardening advice. He always said that when planting pumpkins you should pop the seeds in your mouth for a couple of seconds to help them break dormancy before planting them. After my first tranche of seeds got 100% failure without doing that, I planted some more and gave them a quick sook before bunging them in. I now have full germination this time. Nice one, Grandpa.

My main #Gardening problem is I hate pricking out and discarding unneeded plants. I just have to try and save them all. Every sprouted seed, no matter how puny or behind its fellows, I must try to save. I am too damn soft.

It also means I have to try and rehome unneeded (I refuse to say unwanted) seedlings too. It is such a hassle.

I am such a pushover.
