A mess of roses: this is the [Fairy] Ballerins rose which I love and have planted everywhere I have lived. It’s super tough and flowers repeatedly. Various bees and other pollinators like it. It has masses of flowers covering its rambling branches in spring and summer, and will keep flowering until winter. [Erratum: brain fog edition, this is Ballerina rose]

To walk through the garden and gather such beauty up, smelling and sighing with all the happiness Spring brings. I love days like today.

Naïf by Willie Robb

Following on from Parking Among Trees and DER DIE DAS, Naïf is a body of family snapshots that don't fit in the family album.

With the half the season gone, I know I want to photograph my garden as much as possible to carry me through the long winter months when there are no bumblebees or butterflies to be spied from the kitchen window. I love living in a place with seasons, but fresh roses, cosmos, dahlias, zinnias, and other floriferous joys are sorely missed when the cooler weather starts to drag on.

So here's a little reminder to myself and anyone else out there this week that if you have a chance to take a moment to stop and smell the roses, take it. And maybe take a photo or five, too.
