Large amount of birds fluttering around the garden this morning for some reason. Saw blue ones, a red one, some small finches…very loud cries too! Wonder what they’re talking about? Maybe about how I haven’t bothered gathering cherry tomatoes for a few days.
I found a new cherry tomato plant outside of the fenced-in garden area…I hope the homeowners like cherry tomatoes because now they have five of them growing!
The groundhog's been poking around the garden fence again today, so I put a little bucket on one corner. If he tries to go that way again, the bucket will fall over and scare him off. Ha!
CONFIRMED TOMATO THIEVES: chipmunk, squirrel, groundhog, bird
And yet they still don’t steal enough to keep me from having to deal with a hundred tomatoes this week
I saw!! A squirrel! Climb the fence and grab a tomato and put it in his mouth and run!!
I saw two horrible bugs this morning I’m going to pretend are hideous crickets
After two rainy mornings I finally got back out to the garden, but now it’s so gloomy and cloudy that I practically need a flashlight to read my book (Bootstrapper by Mardi Jo Link). Hopefully as the sun comes up more it burns off some of the cloudiness.
So far have seen several interesting birds mostly by watching their silhouette, and two small squirrels running across a power line
I don't have many supplies though-- literally can't even find any twine to tie up some plants that outgrew their original strings-- so the owners will just have to deal with things properly once they get back in a few weeks.
Went out to get a cucumber between bursts of rain and the groundhog DUG A HOLE under the fence!!!! I pushed some stuff in front of it as a temporary barrier, but I need to get out there and fix it up entirely once it stops raining
