-Blaumeise in Abendwärme

Deutsch:
Diese Aufnahme einer Blaumeise entstand am Abend, als das Licht besonders weich wurde. Sie saß für einen Moment ruhig auf dem Ast und ließ sich in aller Ruhe fotografieren.

English:
This shot of a Eurasian blue tit was taken in the evening, when the light turned soft and warm. The bird sat still on the branch just long enough for a calm and focused capture.

The wind speed is picking up in #Glasgow - the #GardenBirds on the remain feeder don't seem to care. Tomorrow's bin collection is for the paper bin. Yep. Don't think I'll put that one out overnight unless I want to scatter the contents far and wide.

#GardenBirds are finally eating the peanuts I put out but only because they have devoured the berry suet. Going to have to get back to making my own suet seed cakes. A shame that Atora suet is such a daft price.
Got the #GardenBirds some peanuts but in an act of Muppetry also some of their fave berry suet. This means the nuts are largely being ignored as they devour the pink stuff.
Maybe I should just embed some of the pink stuff in a home made coconut shell suet concoction instead. Just to pace them.

FediFriends, I would be grateful for your advice about cat-proof bird feeders suitable for big bully birds.

Part of my daily routine is watching the local jackdaws, crows, starlings, and sparrows eating bird food in our yard.

The local outdoor cats have started to make that difficult.

Hanging feeders or raised window feeders will work for the small birds, but what can we do to help our corvid friends?

After two weeks away, the journey back home felt almost longer than the trip itself. Unpacking, laundry, sorting things out… you probably know that feeling when vacation ends and “real life” piles up faster than your suitcase ever did. By the end of the day, I was ready for another vacation (not seriously, but you get me 😅).

And then, in the middle of the post-trip chaos, a small reminder of home arrived. A lovely little robin hopped into the garden as if to say, “Welcome back, where have you been?” For me, it felt like a quiet celebration: back to familiar surroundings, back to feeding the birds, back to the rhythms of daily life.

Robins have a special place in many cultures. In folklore, they’re often seen as messengers of hope, new beginnings, and sometimes even as guardians watching over us. Scientifically, they’re just as fascinating: their red breast is a territorial signal, and they’re among the few birds that will sing all year round — even through winter, when most others fall silent. That’s perhaps why they’ve long been seen as little bringers of cheer.

This robin, perched patiently, reminded me that home has its own kind of magic — sometimes quieter than a new destination, but just as worth noticing.

Saw the sparrowhawk earlier on the hedge. Must've been after the hedge sparrows in next door's garden. They're now peeking out said hedge very cautiously and quietly. #GardenBirds
