Okay, I have two PCI SoundBlaster cards with a gameport - both cards work fine as sound cards on Ubuntu 24.04, but no success using a joystick on the gameport.

Anyone know of a live usb Linux distro version that supports the legacy gameport? Preferably something that is less than 15 years old. Only doing this to test old joysticks/gamepads so it doesn't have to be good at anything else.

Edit: please only answer if you have personal experience with the above (PC gameport controllers on Linux); looking up possible solutions on search engines and testing them out is something I've already done, which is why I'm asking here.

The internet can be a really wonderful place. I was looking for an adapter which enables me to use old Joysticks and Gamepads with a #GamePort connector on my #Amiga computers. #eqUInput sounds promising:

I'm wondering how well this adapter will work specifically for using joysticks and gamepads on the Amiga. I've ordered a handful of PCBs, some #Arduino Nano clones and the connectors and will probably get to it in round about three weeks. I'll report back on my success or failure. ;) I'm not a pro in electronics, just a hobbyist. So everything is possible. Especially since the project is described as experimental.

Don't ask why, but these two unused gamepads in their original packaging lured me onto eBay. Now they're mine. They are not high quality but I think they will be useful. They exude the fine aroma of a cellar. I'll probably convert them for my #Amiga computers.
