As I understand it, traditional journalistic coverage has lost a LOT of ground to streamed news/opinion outlets. I think this is irreversible, so gamecrater's closure, though sad, is not surprising.

I don't think it'll be difficult for similar small teams who really are dedicated to bringing gamers fair reviews and balanced views on industry developments, to make a sustainable transition to a streaming format. BUT if they just go with Twitch (Amazon) or Youtube (Google) it may just be transferring the opinion-shaping power to those platforms which may be even more insidious!
I would look into something like PeerTube (https://joinpeertube.org) but that's just me. Anyone want to surface other good options?
