Trump appears doesn’t know difference between making a #deal & making #peace

Even if one is tempted to credit #Trump’s self-professed efforts as a peacemaker (as part of which he has renamed the United States Institute of Peace after himself) foreign policy experts categorise peace in two competing ways first conceptualised by the late Johan #Galtung, the Norwegian #sociologist and prime mover behind the emergence of the discipline of peace and conflict studies.

A lot of attention, column inches, clicks, airtime, news content and opinions are about Trump's flooding of the zone with shit again.

I've seen this before. And paying much attention this time looks like a waste.

RIP Johan #Galtung, who transformed the spontaneous nonviolent struggle in an object of study for social sciences, building a key contribution to the scientific analysis of alternatives to wars and weapons for conflict resolutions.

Despite the evidence of war surrounding us, his cultural legacy is still valid, more then ever, and gives me hope for the future, because I know that we have the means to overcome killings and bombings ad false shortcuts to "peace" and "justice".
