Galaxy Watch4 receives the January 2026 update
Samsung has started rolling out a new software update to the Galaxy Watch4 series, starting from Korea, as of today. It brings the January 2026 security patch, along with some stability improvements. The watches will be updated to the following versions:
You can now update your smartwatch, but if you still didn’t receive any update, you’ll have to wait for a few days as this rollout is a gradual rollout that starts from Korea. You can periodically check for updates to see if this update has reached your device. We recommend that you update your watch manager in your phone to ensure compatibility with the latest software.
To update your watch, follow these steps:
In an event that something went wrong with copying the update, disconnect your phone from your watch by turning Bluetooth off or by disconnecting it through Galaxy Wearable, then try again from your watch. Make sure to turn Wi-Fi on in your watch to download the update faster.
Make sure that both your phone and your watch are charged before performing the update, and that your internet connection is stable. Never interrupt the update process, or there could be problems later. The update process may take a few minutes to finish, and if it appears to be stuck, just wait for more minutes.

Samsung ha detenido el despliegue de su más reciente actualización (One UI 8 Watch, basada en Wear OS 6) para la serie Galaxy Watch 4. Según se reporta en reddit, incluso en un foro de la propia Samsung, múltiples usuarios han informado de problemas críticos que afectan tanto la autonomía como la funcionalidad básica del reloj.
Problemas Detectados en la Actualización
Aunque se esperaba que esta fuera la última gran actualización para un dispositivo que ya tiene más de 4 años, los errores reportados son significativos:
1. Drenaje Extremo de Batería
Muchos usuarios reportan que la duración de la batería ha caído drásticamente. Relojes que antes aguantaban unas 24 horas ahora se apagan tras apenas 12 o 15 horas de uso. En algunos casos, el drenaje es aún más severo.
2. Sensores Inutilizados
El problema más grave afecta a los sensores biométricos. Algunos propietarios del Galaxy Watch 4 Classic han descubierto que, tras actualizar, el reloj no puede detectar el pulso ni el seguimiento de salud.
3. Pantalla Siempre Encendida (AOD) con Fallos

Samsung pulls One UI 8 Watch update for the Galaxy Watch4 and Watch5 as users report issues
A few days after One UI 8 Watch was released for the Galaxy Watch4 and Watch5 users worldwide, they began noticing problems with the watch that were rather serious. Those problems affect normal operation of the watch, and are severe enough that Samsung has started pulling the Galaxy Watch4 and the Watch5 update, starting from the Korean servers, as confirmed by this thread. Earlier, the update was identified as JYK4, which suggests that it was built on November.
An Indian user who updated their Galaxy Watch4 have reported issues with their smartwatch on Samsung Members after they’ve updated their watch to the One UI 8 Watch software, impairing the normal operation of the watch. More specifically, the sensors on the Galaxy Watch4 have begun malfunctioning after the update, such as the wrist detection sensor, which is crucial for any smartwatch. Alongside that, the BIA sensor and the ECG sensor were also not working properly, telling the user that their placement was incorrect. What makes it worse was that even after the reset, the watch still malfunctioned.
To make matters worse, some users reported that they’re not getting the One UI 8 Watch update on their Galaxy Watch4 smartwatches, despite being eligible for the update, and the LTE version users are still waiting for the update in countries like India, USA, and Korea.
Until Samsung pushes the revised version of the Galaxy Watch4 and the Watch5 update, if you haven’t updated your smartwatch, it’s recommended that you hold the update until a newer version is released. You can identify this newer version with either the JYL? build or the JZA? build.
