Its purpose is to annihilate worlds by consuming their number one power source; their sun (... though as Solar Systems usually have at least two suns on average, at least two suneaters would be needed. But I digest ...)
A Suneater was destroyed by a member of the Legion of Superheroes in the Thirtieth Century in a needlessly complicated plot designed to make some guy look like he was making a heroic sacrifice.

Galactose (/ɡəˈlæktoʊs/, galacto- + -ose, sometimes abbreviated Gal), is a common monosaccharide, i.e. a simple sugar. It is classified as a reducing hexose, more specifically an aldohexose. In terms of structure, it is a C-4 epimer of glucose. A white, water-soluble solid, it is about 80–90% as sweet as glucose and about 65% as sweet as sucrose.
With its intention (to cause everyone in the Universe to get Diabetes!), Galactose is accompanied by the SilverSpoon on his journey through the Universe and often visits his doctor in Manhattan on the planet Earth (very reasonable insurance plan).
