Interessant ist vielleicht, dass das Projekt in die Zeit vor dem iPhone, e-Rollern, Lieferdrohnen, flächendeckendem Breitband und 3D-Printing - auch von ganzen Häusern - (u.v.a.m.) zurückgeht. Vielleicht wäre heute die Technologie-Auswahl etwas anders ausgefallen.

International #trade #policy is in need of good data and #transparency. With this, policy-makers can make calmer, better decisions. Among those providing this, is the #GlobalTradeAlert. Since the January update, the largest number of policies affecting #GVCs are domestic #subsidies. #CriticalRawMaterials seem +/- evenly distributed in the categories.

#SustainableProsperity includes access to affordable, secure, & clean #energy for all. For this, it is essential for countries to cooperate on the #GVCs for #Renewables, e.g., by averting #ExportRestrictions. In recent years, their number has increased, though. One way to reduce or limit them is through #trade agreements.

Since no economy commands a sufficient domestic supply of all critical minerals, engaging with foreign governments to secure the precious inputs cannot be avoided. I would like to alert you to an event in Brussels next week which may have your interest. The Global Trade Alert and the Mission of Switzerland to the European Union are hosting an in-person private event: The Scramble for Critical Minerals: Securing Supply with a Thick Markets Approach. The awards of round 3 of the Open Competition SGW-XS pilot programme are a fact. What is eye-catching in this round is that mainly women applied. Over two-thirds of the awards went to female researchers. The 60 researchers start with a project based on a promising idea or an innovative and high-risk initiative. So there is plenty of scope for experimentation and innovation.
