Gisteravond ging ik naar #kidcongopowers in #dbs (Utrecht).

Het was een erg enthousiaste band en een curieus concert
Dit soort muziek is eigenlijk altijd heel macho en dat was dit juist niet. Een beetje alsof Jonathan Richman in the Gun Club had gespeeld in plaats van Jeffrey Lee Pierce.

Soms wist ik niet goed wat ik er nou van vond. En vaak vond ik het heel erg leuk. Ik kreeg er hoe dan ook zeer goede zin van dus.. blij dat ik gegaan ben.

Frag mich echt, was diese LP so magisch macht.
Jedes Lied in e‑Moll, sollte eigentlich total langweilig sein. Es ist aber ein absolutes Meisterwerk.

My original pressing of this has been rendered unlistenable, so it was time for a listenable upgrade copy.
And I’m very pleased with how it sounds.

Now, I find the second live disc completely unnecessary, but this was the only available pressing for purchase at my local shop. I guess I don’t mind paying a tad extra for a quality pressing of the actual album.

A singular achievement of the #80s , and it’s as great sounding and as musically engaging today as it was back in 1981.

That was the longest Friday I have ever had in my entire life. I’m beyond bagged, but need at least an hour before I join the land of the dead.

I wanted something I haven’t heard front to back in a long time. So I decided on MY favorite Gun Club record, which also happens to have one of my Desert Island Songs on it in “Hearts”.

When you get a Cocteau Twin involved with the making of your record, you know you’re going to visit some new and exciting places. The record is more spacious, SPACED OUT, & shimmery than their previous albums, but the band are very much still themselves.
Just evolving.
