Firmware successfully updated on the TinyGTC to v1.0-77. Adds a new command for log-log FFT and reduces CPU load compared to previous FW version. Quite impressed with this tiny instrument as it has MANY FEATURES for a low price. More GPSDO, counter, timer fun ahead! #GPSDO #CounterTimer #TestEquipment

I now have a working #IEEE #1588 hardware-corrected #time sync setup using an #Intel #I226V card. No #Arista switch required. FreeBSD #ptpd slave sees #linuxptp master. Yet to test with the #NVidia #Mellanox #ConnectX-4 LX clients in #FreeBSD though. #BeagleBone Black support appears broken. Awaiting a #SiRFStar IV USB #GPS with alleged #PPS capability, and yet to recover my #GPSDO unit from my aunt's attic in Fife.

Da komme ich so langsam an meine Grenzen, wie genau ich Frequenzen messen kann. Oben im gelben Feld läuft dea inzwischen abgeglichene Rubidium-Frequenznormal. Unten ein Bodnar #GPSDO. Der Frequenzzähler wird durch einen weiteren GPSDO und dem eingebauten GPSDO des #TinyGTC stabilisiert. Vermutlich sorgt das eher für Ungenauigkeiten. Für mich ist aber die untere Kurve wichtig, wie die gelbe und blaue Linie im Verhältnis stehen. Die Kurve zeigt +/- 2 mHz an. Die Ungenauigkeit zwischen beiden ist unter 20 Mikrohertz(!) auf 200 Sekunden. Wenn ich als Referenz nur einen GPSDO nehme, isses noch weniger. Viel kann ich da nicht mehr rauskitzeln. Zu Anfang hatte das Frequenznormal 4mHz Differenz, weil es seit 2003 nicht nachgeeicht wurde. #elektronik #messen #frequenz

XY-Darstellung 10 MHz Signal über GPSDO und Rubidium Frequenznormal. Ob die Artefakte bei der Phasenverschiebung durch die Signale oder eher durch die Signalverarbeitung des Oszilloskop passieren, ist die Frage. Leider kein analoges Scope hier im Hause. #elektronik #gpsdo

Endlich geschafft, die Parameter richtig zu setzen. Der GPS Empfänger regelt über einen DAC den #Quarzofen in seiner Frequenz das er stabil steht.

Jetzt alles schön in ein Gehäuse verpackt und nutzen.

On breadboard we have a clean 10MHz sine-wave frequency reference. It is phase locked to a 1MHz GPS disciplined oscillator. My design uses a phase locked loop and decade counter to finely control an oscillator. Next step is to build it properly.

Home designed GPS disciplined oscillator now done and dusted. The blue LED on the front panel indicates a DGPS fix. Outputting a locked 8MHz into the frequency counter. I certainly recommend u-blox NEO-M8P GPS modules!

GPS disciplined oscillator taken off yesterday's breadboard and on to stripboard (veroboard). Front panel and mainboard ready to be housed in its awaiting instrument enclosure.
