We failed to save Saibaba in time: how many more of such ‘political prisoners’ shall we allow to die, because they spoke and lived and honoured their politics unflinchingly?

This is where the Indian police state is today.
Prof. G.N.Saibaba, an English prof at a Delhi college was arrested and detained for
10 years without trial. Indian courts repeatedly denied bail for him, in spite of the fact that he is 90% disabled, bound to a wheel chair and had major health issues. Finally he was given bail a few months back, but is now dead due to health complications. This is an institutional murder under the #BJP's #Modi government and need to be protested.

Rest in power, Saibaba. My favorite poetry of yours. Your legacy will forever be relevant to those conscientious people who envision a truly free and equal world order and want to see an end to the hierarchy of human life that exists. #GNSaibaba

Was the trial judge who convicted G.N. Saibaba biased? We will never know, and that is part of the injustice

The injustice of a trial judge filling the gaps in the prosecution’s case (which relied on ‘evidence’ in the form of bananas, umbrellas and newspaper cuttings) with judicial overreach to chop ten years off Professor G.N. Saibaba’s life. Nihalsing B. Rathod writes.

Acquittal Of Prof G N Saibaba & 5 Others Is A Lesson In The Importance of Criminal Procedure In Securing Personal Liberty

Of 293 pages in the 5 March 2024 Bombay High Court judgement acquitting G N Saibaba of terrorism charges, almost 240 examine a litany of procedural non-compliances in the prosecution case. Without adherence to legal procedure, especially when life and liberty are at stake, nothing stands in the way of the police entering homes at night, rummaging through belongings & taking us away without anyone ever knowing.
