It’s the law. #NASA #nyc #giss

Law on the books that we should be brought back.

“Earth System Modeling. In preparing the plan required under this paragraph in the Senate report. NASA shall ensure that Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) employees are able to continue work with minimal disruption. including by considering a physical location of GISS near its previous location that supports GISS's strong academic partnerships.”

“H.R. 6938, the “Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026,” which makes consolidated appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2026, and for other purposes.”

The GSFC -- goddard space flight center -- in Maryland has an amazing Science Visualization Studio.

100% The folks there care not only about the research, but of the aesthetic of translating from science-speak to something everyone can understand.

Feel awe and sadness... 2025 was HOT. Our outlook was not.

Here is the 2025 version of our annual visualization of global temperatures from GISTEMP. NASA's estimate has 2025 tying 2023 for the second warmest year since 1880 (2024 was the warmest). svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/5603

Today I had respite #gfdl invited #nasa #giss #nyc to its #princeton campus for a 6 hour, science-talk only retreat 🧠 of my colleagues: we know next directions On est prêts And the 5-person carpool in a small hatchback is not only better for the environment, but also good for brainstorming ❤️🌎
