Article 2.1(c) of the #ParisAgreement requires financial flows to be made consistent with a pathway towards low #GHGemissions. A new discussion paper evaluates assessment frameworks to track progress toward Article 2.1(c), identifying key trends and gaps:

"... Romania... has decoupled economic growth from pollution faster than anywhere else in Europe, and perhaps even the world. Its net greenhouse gas emissions intensity fell by 88% between 1990 and 2023, the latest data shows, meaning each dollar’s worth of economic activity heats the planet almost 10 times less than it did before. Emissions have plunged by 75%."

‘The trend is irreversible’: has Romania shattered the link between economic growth and high emissions?

Emissions have plunged 75% since communist times in the birthplace of big oil – but for some the transition has been brutal

đŸ¶ Researchers compare the footprint of meat vs. plant-based #dog foods:

Reminds me of the intentionally provocative book "Time to Eat the Dog? The Real Guide to #SustainableLiving" by Robert & Brenda Vale. Their premise: the #CarbonFootprint of a #pet dog is twice that of a 4.5L Toyota Land Cruiser driven 10,000 km/year! (That model was just discontinued in NZ to meet #GHGemissions standards.)

Turns out the Vales were cited in the original paper!

Researchers compare the footprint of meat vs. plant-based dog foods. The differences were staggering.

Global pet food emissions rival those of a small country. A new UK study reveals that switching dogs to plant-based foods could slash emissions tenfold—without sacrificing nutrition.

...Representatives of oil-producing countries are now attending the COP climate meetings in “big numbers”, Talia said, in order to try and “really bury our voice as small developing countries”.
