Spent some time this cold grey morning outside for the Great Backyard Bird Count. I saw only the usual flocks of house sparrows and starlings that live near the parking lot garden.
According to Merlin’s listening feature, I heard the neighbor blue jay (yep) and a cardinal (also a neighbor) and a house finch. Never seen a house finch!
Better on not-a-phone but amusing to watch! EBird live submissions map:

Just spent some quality porch time counting birds for the CornellLab Great Backyard Bird Count. Got 22 species, including a Red Shouldered Hawk.
Got 15 minutes? Go count some birdies for science!

All Northern flickers I've reported in southeast Michigan today are now considered rare.
Two days ago, I reported them without them being flagged as rare.
