I’m looking for a way to run Autodesk Fusion on Linux (NixOS). I believe this *should* be possible with things like Proton and all the Windows games that now run flawlessly.

If someone has a good tutorial, I’m interested.

This is one of the last apps still making me keep a Microslop Windows install. 🙏🏻

I’m not interested in responses like « try this other software ».

I've been trying out #LinuxMint for a while on my laptop and today I took the leap and installed it on my main PC as well (although as a dual boot with Windows for now). There are still a few pieces of software that are going to be tough to live without, mainly #Fusion360 (checking out #Freecad as a replacement) and I have to make absolutely sure Sims 4 is working properly for the missus.

I have (re)made a thing in #Fusion360! This will make the next step ( #CAM ) easier.

Literally everything i had to do was easier in #Shapr3D & not just because i know it better.

I still can't figure out how to move the endpoint of a line in a Fusion360 sketch after I've made it. Even when the line has no constraints and isn't touching anything. Everything i try results in either a big "Hah. no 🖕" or the entire sketch getting borked.

Really curious what Fusion 360 is doing that it leaves UI debris across my virtual desktops on my Mac. I am a constant-hotkeys-muscle-memory user of virtual desktops ("spaces") and I often find little one-line notices (like save reminders) and even inputs for measurements end up on top of things like Safari on different desktops.

You have to make Fusion active briefly to make them go away.

Granted, Fusion is about the furthest thing from a Mac-like native app, of course... <sigh> #fusion360

I finally designed something in FreeCAD instead of Fusion 360. I started from knowing what problem I needed to solve but no idea what the solution's shape (literally) would be. This took me maybe six or eight hours.
