I read The Musgraves by D.E. Stevenson, a #FurrowedMiddlebrow book about an English family during a drought summer, that was too unfocused and episodic for my tastes. Someone was always worried about something and nothing interesting ever comes of it. It reminded me of an improv sketch by inexperienced improvisers, who keep immediately cancelling out any conflict they get into.
#WhatchaReading ? The Man in the Dark by Susan Scarlett/Noel Streatfeild is an old romance with a blind MMC, so must be approached with caution. It's a bit less offensive than usual though, and I do love her writing.

My big problem right now is I recommended all the Susan Scarlet #FurrowedMiddlebrow books to my library, and they bought them all and want me to read them all immediately! In the same time frame I have cheap Kindle Unlimited! 🙀
#WhatchaReading ? I really enjoyed the #FurrowedMiddlebrow reissue of Clothes-Pegs, one of Noel Streatfeild's adult books. (As Susan Scarlett.)
FMC has such a well-drawn, believable family, it balances out the fairy tale romance. MMC has a nasty old skool moment but then thinks better of it and is disinclined to believe the worst of the FMC after all. (Still very sexist though!)
Details of a models life are interesting. (I didn't know NS was one!)
