My top surgery consultation is just barely over two weeks away, and we are struggling to come up with the funds to get a used car. We have been struggling for months without transportation, with much of our survival budget being used for delivery and ride-share. We have $1050 saved, and need at least 2x that in total to be able to get a car. I’m genuinely scared I won’t be able to make the appointment, and I know I won’t be able to get a ride-share away from the actual surgery. I’m genuinely desperate to make sure I can get top surgery. Not only for my mental health, but also my physical health. I have a family history of cancer, and have been having concerning symptoms..
I’m going with Dr. Steinwald, who doesn’t take insurance, but I don’t have insurance anyways, so that doesn’t have any impact. Not having insurance means I’d have to go through and pay for all kinds of things to get tested for cancer, anyways, and there’s no telling if they’d offer a double mastectomy off the bat. I know what I need, what would make me feel more secure in myself, and what would actually lessen the pain I deal with on the daily, and that is top surgery.
