Into The Dark

The zebra crossing is lighted with very bright lights while all the surrounding is rather dark. So one would get that wonerful deep dark background with some city lights.

With the early darknes of winter I rarely had the chance to shoot with sufficient light so I was searching for places with bright lights on cycle paths. The best match was a zebra crossing on one of Kiel's bike roads.

The bike, the background, the sharpness. I donot feel that satisfaction with my fotos very often. That day another cyclist approached me because he was uncomfortable wit me, a stranger taking pictures of him. Especially with that 16 mm lence that needs me to be rather close. I wish my shots of him and his friends where as good so that I could have offered him a print. But all where too dark an blury because I failed with the panning speed.

welll ... if you happen to know the cyclist on the picture please let him know that I would very much love to share a print with him.

Pausenbank

#Pausenbank, den Begriff hat Natenom († 30. Januar 2024) für mich geprägt. Er nutze Pausenbäume auf seinen Radwegen für Radelpausen. Und eben auch Pausenbänke. Er gab diesen alltäglichen Örtchen Aufmerksamkeit und Wertschätzung, die sie verdienen, aber auf Grund ihrer Alltäglichkeit selten bekommen... außer sie fehlen, wenn man sie braucht.

Many people in Copenhagen cycle on a daily basis. It seems so very normal and so most of the bikes are chosen as an everyday tool it seems. In everage more good looking bikes than in Germany, bikes with in average higher quality in terms of reliability than in Germany. Many with bulky alumium frames. But there are these classic steelframes with some aftermarket upgrades.

Mixte Cafe Racer

This Creme Cycle made it twice in to my winter copenhagen set and it could not be picket better - as I said before.

The people behind Creme Cycles come
from a MTB background and wanted to find better looking everyday bike for their evenings in the cafes. The story is that they found old bike parts at a friends place that gave the inspiration to classic new bikes with the eye for detail from the old times.

Creme Cycles from Poland are EU funded. "The long-term goal of this project is to increase the recognition of the Creme brand and enter prospective markets where the brand has not been present so far or where sales are at a low level." The EU-funding comes at around 11 000 €.
