Soffrite di vertigini? Se la risposta e no, potete ambire a essere protagonisti di un’esperienza al limite. Ma occorre prima rispondere a un’altra domanda: siete allenati? Perché per arrivare a gustarvi un caffè a 70 metri sopra il livello del mare dovrete percorrere una via ferrata con tanto di imbragatura. In Cina c’è un posto dove il coffee break è adrenalinico: si chiama Gushi Cliff Coffee e si trova nel villaggio di Gushi, nella provincia sud-orientale del Fujian. Più che un bar è un’esperienza turistica estrema: per arrivarci bisogna percorrere una breve via ferrata guidata lungo la parete rocciosa e poi sedersi su una piccola panca fissata alla scogliera. È lì che si beve caffè assieme agli altri avventori.
Com’è nata l’idea
L’idea è nata nel 2024 per attirare visitatori nella zona e trasformare il classico rituale del caffè in una sfida vertiginosa. Il prezzo è di circa 398 yuan (poco più di 50 euro) e comprende attrezzatura di sicurezza, guida, assicurazione e naturalmente la bevanda. Il vero obiettivo però non è tanto (neanche a dirlo) il caffè quanto la foto: il “cliff coffee” è diventato virale sui social cinesi proprio per le immagini spettacolari dei clienti sospesi nel vuoto con la tazzina in mano.

Because to enjoy a coffee 70 meters above sea level, you’ll need to traverse a via ferrata with a harness. In China, there’s a place where a coffee break is adrenaline-fueled: it’s called Gushi Cliff Coffee and is located in the village of Gushi, in the southeast Fujian province. More than a bar, it’s an extreme tourist experience: to get there, you must traverse a short guided via ferrata along the rock face and then sit on a small bench fixed to the cliff. That’s where you drink coffee alongside the other patrons.
How the idea was born
The idea was born in 2024 to attract visitors to the area and transform the classic coffee ritual into a dizzying challenge. The price is around 398 yuan (just over 50 euros) and includes safety equipment, a guide, insurance, and, of course, the beverage. The real objective, however, is not so much (as you might guess) the coffee, but the photo: the “cliff coffee” has gone viral on Chinese social media precisely for the spectacular images of customers suspended in mid-air with a cup of coffee in their hands.
