From the moment I took the AE-1 out of my in-laws’ cupboard out of necessity (my digital camera was broken) and jumped back into analog, I was completely sold. And in no time I found a few cheap analog cameras. (Cameras that cost a month’s salary in my youth I was now buying for €20.)
And although I’m not into cam porn at all, I still see this photo a little bit as a child portrait of my youngest daughter (back then she was still willing to pose for her dad).

The AE-1 was the first camera that brought me back to shooting analog (and that is also quite a long time ago), but it never really became my favorite. Still, it was certainly a great way to get started again!

After all these years, finding a logic again in what kind of photos to post is very difficult.
(Belgium is grey, and I don’t photograph that much in winter.)
But apparently, I’m now lingering with the Canon AE-1 and the colour red. And maybe also with the desire that emerged to photograph people.
It’s been a long time, but this is a holiday photo, my eldest daughter, who at the time was at that in-between age between child and girl. It wasn’t posed, she was lost in thought, alone on a rock by the river somewhere in the #Languedoc, #France.
It was the first time in years that I had taken an analog camera with me on a holiday trip again. And in fact, I knew immediately after switching back to analog that that was where my love belonged. It was also the period when I could finally buy the cameras I could only dream of in my youth and now for next to nothing.

The AE-1 was the first camera that brought me back to shooting analog (and that is also quite a long time ago), but it never really became my favorite. Still, it was certainly a great way to get started again!

This is probably one of the photos that made me long for model photography… At that time, I had just returned to shooting with an analog camera, and I was a bit obsessed with separating the subject from the background by using depth of field. Of course, in everyday life it rarely happens that a person appears perfectly as a subject in front of you and you have the time to photograph them
(Old camera analog is always a bit slower).
In this way, the hunger to photograph people emerged, and the search for #models began.
