Artless Entanglements were the Fugs of 1980s punk rock.
Silly, fun, over the top and intense.
What, you've never heard of them?
Who were they?
They were none other than Spot (AKA Glenn Michael Lockett) who played guitar, bass synth, drums, and sang, with a few friends filling in, as needed, on other instruments.
Spot was most well-known as the producer and engineer at SST records, where he produced many of the best records by Black Flag, Descendents, Minutemen, Meat Puppets, Husker Du, Big Boys, and Saccharine Trust.
He died in 2023 while recovering from a stroke.

That 1967 deployment was perhaps the most extraordinary. In a surreal prelude to the confrontation, as the rock band the #Fugs played, #AbbieHoffman & #AllenGinsberg chanted to levitate the building, turn it orange, & exorcise its demons—a ritual humorously sanctioned in the #protest permit.
