The report revealed that the soldier, Niv Ayous, 25, a reservist in the “Caracal” unit of the Israeli occupation army, was driving in the Gaza border area when Israeli forces mistakenly identified him as Palestinian. His vehicle was shot and targeted killing him immediately.
The soldier’s mother is now demanding that the Israeli government recognize him as a fallen soldier, rather than a civilian casualty. Yedioth Ahronoth shared details of the incident, which unfolded on the morning of October 8. Ayous had left his in-laws’ home in occupied Asdod to join his unit."
