How on earth does anyone think this is a good idea? In 1984 the studios and many other businesses closed for two weeks. Of course, their employees weren’t paid. Workers returned to discover nearby restaurants, dependent on worker’s lunch trade, had closed their doors permanently. Don’t even get me started on the traffic. LA is virtually unnavigable as it is. This is just another costly waste of resources that benefits only the rich.
Fuck the Olympics, btw.
My prediction as of May, 2014: "I see "peak Olympics" in terms of spending coming within the decade. Possibly sooner."
Looking at the 2020 games (still upcoming), and their prospects.
