Bleakly amusing to me that 4 years into Russia attacking Europe and using energy to blackmail us, 🇪🇺 electricity distribution grids are paying infomercials to ask for large-scale investments in ageing infrastructure:

"Distribution grids will require EUR 730 billion investment by 2040 and a significant share of this will be dedicated specifically to resilience measures"

...but we can't have eurobonds because #FrugalsInTrenches still think I'll spend it all on booze and twinks.

@janeishly @saustrup The TV channel hasn't expanded, the previous 🇩🇪 government didn't finance it even though it told 🇫🇷 it agreed to it. So that's something to fight over in the next EU budget negotiation this year and the next. (Where 🇩🇪 is also refusing to #EndRebates from the Thatcher era, so not sure how the current 🇩🇪 government squares that, maybe it will push the other #FrugalsInTrenches to quit being penny-pinchers). The streaming platform is available everywhere.

Investors are desperate for safe assets, every single euro issuance so far is massively oversubscribed.
